Thanksgiving Address: Greetings to the Natural World, 4/14/24

April 14 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am

Join me and other like-minded individuals for a simple gratitude practice, greeting the Natural World, one Sunday per month in 2024. The events are being hosted in a variety of outdoor spaces in the West Michigan region.
The purpose of this gratitude practice is to experience a way of acknowledging the natural world, greeting all living things, and showing gratitude. This practice is encouraged by the Haudenosaunee, as written by John Stokes, that we “share in these words, that our concentrated attention might help us rediscover our balance, respect, and oneness with Nature.”
Monthly meetings are open to everyone of all ages, but they are designed for informal and formal educators to experience the Thanksgiving Address in community so they can reflect and consider how they might use this practice with their students, nature center patrons, etc.
The "Thanksgiving Address: Greetings to the Natural World" pocket book will guide the heart of the practice. This program is underwritten by the Michigan Alliance for Environmental Outdoor Educators and Joyful Wildcrafting, so informal and formal educators will receive a copy of the pocket book at no charge.
By sharing this experience, our hope is that individuals may experience a practice of connecting with Nature that expresses gratitude and greetings and may remind us to relate with the Natural World with respect, acceptance, and compassion for all beings.
We're hoping to hold the gratitude practice portion of this event outside, weather permitting.
Registration is not necessary for this free event.
