Pine Needle Crafting Workshop: Make a coaster, or work on a basket

Craft nature’s beauty in this coaster/basket-making workshop with Lea Sevigny of Joyful Wildcrafting. Using a traditional coil technique, participants will be guided through all of the steps to create a coaster with foraged Red Pine needles. Using a few key methods, creating these impressive coasters provides a mindful, relaxing experience. Imagine yourself working by the fire in the lodge, sipping pine needle tea. A cozy experience on a winter afternoon!
All supplies will be provided, but if you’d like to bring your own Red Pine needles to work with, please do! Participants have the option to create a small basket instead of a coaster. Previous basketry experience is not necessary, and all instructions will be part of the workshop.
Since it’s a longer class, feel free to bring a lunch or snack for your comfort. Some snacks and tea will be provided. Participants will receive printed instructions on how to create (and finish) the coaster or basket, so it’s not necessary to remain for the full class time.
Space is limited, so if you are a member of the IKEs pay the $15 materials fee to hold your spot. On the day of the event, members will pay an additional $10.
If you are not a member, email Lea@joyfulwildcrafting.com to be put on a waiting list. Spots for non-members will open on March 6. On the day of the event, non-members will pay $20 to the Izaak Walton League.
